Hey, it’s My Horn…

So let me blow it! Two months ago here at BGR, we undertook a reader survey to best gauge how well we are serving our subscribers. We encouraged honest feedback and wanted to get a better grip on not only what BGR IS, but where it should be going.  

Let’s face it. Us broadband journalists and publishing types know there are only so many ways you can position DOCSIS 3.0 uniquely. So it boils down to the intangibles and the little things you do stand out from the crowd. A media company like ours is very similar to cable. We have subscribers, advertisers, partners, and different types of content. And all of these verticals must work closely to deliver a strong product. And promote smartly – all the time. And I feel we’ve done just that, with our annual Diamonds Reviews program, our video news vignette infomercial service, our editorial that is timely but not overkill, our Product Alerts and our Broadband Today show.  

Well suffice to say, we did really, REALLY well in the survey. Top marks and percentages in all disciplines, and some really surprising results when it came to webinars and video. According to our respondees, they would much prefer a hosted video presenting a technology than a webinar. The majority were BIG fans of video. And that fact is borne out by our huge web video views.
 
Readership is up, issue opens are up, and today we move to a brand new email publishing platform too.

So what’s next? Well it’s big, and and it’s a surprise. You’ll hear it soon enough.
